The present 86 rooms and gardens of Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel, is an idea of beauty.
all the construction materials have been likewise relentlessly brought in, - from far and wide and by train -, since, this wonderful natural and cultural area award intangible status, there are only rocks, boulders or pebbles directly available at the site. It was built and continually renovated, over a period of nine years: hand-cut stones and woods, each one crafted with remarkable skill, care, and invariable regard to detail.
All different airy pitched roof casitas, connected to each other by winding stone paths, are home to 86 secluded rooms - forming a pueblo-like of escaping structures -. White walls, red tiles, high windows flanked by exposed beams, and private verandah take turns peering into the cascading spring water pond, the river, and the superb mountain humid forest gardens.
The a esthetic refinements such as wrought iron, hand-carved tables and chairs, rough-hewn woods, traditionally hand woven and dyed bedspreads or rugs... have been designed by Denise Koechlin's natural dash of flair - and handcrafted and colored by the Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel own in-house artisans. Thus far, the rooms' setting blends a luscious sense of serenity with mild dwindling sophisticated simplicity; giving the impression of trying jealously to preserve, through their muted colors, their own warmth and intimacy.
The Bar under the wooden ceiling the atmosphere at the bar combines the aromas of extravagant humid forest flowers, soft coffee, the unmistakable Peruvian lemon constantly cut for the famous Pisco sour, and a hint of honey from the wax of the rough beams; there, the guests are held in one ethereal web of permanent charm and serendipitous merriment.
